This portrait is inspired by the Divine and the film of John Waters, particularly the film Female Trouble. When I first saw this film I found it disturbing and disgusting. As I reflected I began to consider the life and context of the main character Dawn Davenport. It is a film that I still find interesting to reflect on and I am still forming opinions of it.
